Before you use a PayNow QR code
PayNow is Singapore's national instant-payment service. It only works within the Singapore banking network, so please note:
- 🇸🇬 Singapore only. PayNow works between participating Singapore banks and e-wallets — it is not an international payment method.
- 💵 Singapore Dollars (SGD) only. Every PayNow transfer is in SGD; other currencies aren't supported.
- 🏦 Both sides need a Singapore bank/PayNow account. The payee registers their mobile number or UEN for PayNow, and the payer scans with a Singapore bank or e-wallet app (DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB, Standard Chartered, GXS, and others).
- 🔒 Only public details are encoded. The QR carries your PayNow proxy (mobile number or UEN) and payment info — never your bank login or account number.
What is PayNow?
PayNow is a peer-to-peer funds-transfer service in Singapore that lets customers send SGD instantly using just a registered mobile number, NRIC/FIN, or a business UEN — without exchanging bank account numbers. A PayNow QR code packages those details into the Singapore SGQR / EMVCo standard so anyone can pay you by scanning with their bank app.
